Hello! I learned about your work through the Kentucky Foundation for Women. This fall I began a doctoral program and plan to focus my long-term research on feminist media activism in Appalachia. This semester I’m beginning to talk to a few KFW grant recipients for a course I’m taking on “Anthropology and the State,” and I’m writing to find out if you might be willing to have a conversation about your identity as a feminist, your filmmaking, and your role as an activist.
If you would be interested and available to have even a brief phone conversation sometime soon, I’d love to include you and your perspective. And if not, perhaps you might be willing to talk some other time.
Thanks for your consideration of this request. I look forward to hearing from you! Take care,
Plans have changed a bit since I met with my co-advisers last week. They encouraged me to hold off on engaging with folks who may likely be part of my larger dissertation research. One of the main reasons is that I would not be able to use the research from this class project without going through the comprehensive Institutional Review Board (IRB) process, which is very lengthy and arduous. So I basically have to come up with a brand new paper proposal for this class.
So for now, we don’t have to coordinate our schedules to set up a conversation. However, I do hope to be in touch again when I have more a more direct plan for my long-term research/dissertation.
Hi Nell, I am Christine Knowlton, a member of the NYWIFT Archives committee and would like to contact you regarding a filmed interview to add to our collection. Please contact me when you get a chance so we can speak further. Welcome back to NY!
Hi Nell,
Love the look of your new(ish) blog!
All the best,
